The American College of Cardiology and the Japanese College of Cardiology are hosting the 2019 ACC Asia Conference together with JCC 2019 in Nagoya, Japan, from September 13-14.
"With the health care debate headed toward a showdown on Capitol Hill, the battle is being joined locally at street rallies, in television ads and through phone banks. Members of Congress, particularly Democratic moderates such as Rep. Bob Etheridge, are facing stepped-up lobbying efforts as President Barack Obama makes a final push for passage of a bill aimed to change the health care system. At the same time, conservative critics are waging a last effort to derail the bill" (Christensen, 3/12).
On exhibit for the first time in Canada, Providence Health Care and AstraZeneca Canada are co-presenting Beyond Barriers: Photographs from the Frontlines of Health, which celebrates the compassion and ingenuity of health professionals (doctors, nurses, social workers and others) working on Canada's frontlines.
Nanomaterials are poised for widespread use in the construction industry, where they can offer significant advantages for a variety of applications ranging from making more durable concrete to self-cleaning windows. But widespread use in building materials comes with potential environmental and health risks when those materials are thrown away. Those are the conclusions of a new study published by Rice University engineering researchers this month in ACS Nano.
