The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday heard a case - AOSI v. USAID - challenging a 2003 federal statute that requires non-profit organizations to adopt an "anti-prostitution policy" in order to receive federal funding for HIV/AIDS programs abroad, on the grounds that it violates the First Amendment.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation will host a protest Wednesday morning, March 24th at 10:30am targeting Merck and Co. Pharmaceuticals over the pricing and policies for its key HIV/AIDS drug, Isentress, one of the most expensive first-line AIDS treatment in the US, during the Barclays Capital Global Healthcare Conference.
"As Congress's debate over health-care legislation lumbers toward a defining test for the Obama presidency, partisans on both sides of another issue - immigration - escalated their own proxy war this week, concluding that the fates of the two issues have become politically linked" (Hsu, 9/15).
Pfizer Inc. has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for XELJANZ (tofacitinib citrate) 5 mg twice daily for the treatment of adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to methotrexate.
The Nutrition and Obesity Research Group of the UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country is studying the effects of diet composition on people's body weight and health. Its participation in the PREDIMED project features among the many pieces of research it has conducted.
