Researchers at the University of Louisville have developed an easily reproducible system that enables them to keep slices of human hearts alive for a longer period of time, allowing more extensive testing of new drugs and gene therapies.
Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales has become the first publicly-funded hospital in the UK to invest in Esaote's G-scan Brio, an open, weight-bearing MRI unit for musculoskeletal scanning. In an innovative move, the hospital can now scan patients in any position, from standing vertically to the traditional supine postition laying flat.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a public health advisory to health care providers, patients, and caregivers to alert them to new safety information about the use of certain unapproved or off label drugs which come under the category of "atypical antipsychotic drugs."
Young adults are at particularly high risk for excessive weight gain. Although weight gain intervention for young adults attending two- or four-year colleges has been studied extensively, there has been little research into effective weight management programs targeting low-income, non-college bound young adults.
