A new law that allows Georgians to buy health insurance plans approved by other states was envisioned as free-market solution that would lower prices and increase choices. So far, the law has failed to produce results: Not a single insurer is offering a policy under the new law. "Nobody has even asked to be approved to sell across state lines," Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said.

In a study published in Molecular Metabolism, a SLU researcher has found that adropin, a hormone that regulates whether the body burns fat or sugar during feeding and fasting cycles, can improve insulin action in obese, diabetic mice, suggesting that it may work as a therapy for type 2 diabetes.
"Rwanda has been so successful at fighting measles that next month it will be the first country to get donor support to move to the next stage - fighting rubella too," the New York Times reports.
A group of researchers led by the Universities of Leicester and Nottingham has discovered genetic differences that put some people at higher risk than others of developing chronic lung disease.
