We've all heard about circadian rhythm, the roughly 24-hour oscillations of biological processes that occur in many living organisms. Yet for all its influence in many aspects of our lives - from sleep to immunity and, particularly, metabolism - relatively little is understood about the mammalian circadian rhythm and the interlocking processes that comprise this complex biological clock.
Through a series of investigations in mice and humans, Johns Hopkins researchers have identified a protein that appears to be the target of both antidepressant drugs and electroconvulsive therapy.
Organically farmed food has a bigger climate impact than conventionally farmed food, due to the greater areas of land required. This is the finding of a new international study involving Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, published in the journal Nature.
The global giant Unilever which specialises in home, personal care and foods products has promised women a new deodorant which will apparently slow down the growth of underarm hair.
Improving emotional well-being and preventing depression in young people between 16 and 22 years old is the main objective of MyMoodCoach, an app developed by a European research team, in which the Psychology and Technology Laboratory (LabPsiTec) of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón participated.
