Both the Medical Software Industry Association (MSIA) and the Australian Privacy Foundation have criticized the private corporation established by the federal and state governments to roll out the federal government's proposed electronic health records. They have told a Senate inquiry hearing in Canberra that personally-controlled e-health records should not go live on July 1 as planned.
Reinforcing the need to look beyond genomic alterations to understand the complexity of cancer, researchers from Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center report that a normal enzyme called SYK pairs with FLT3, the most commonly mutated enzyme found in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), to promote progression of the disease.
A theory that has gained considerable attention in international media, including Newsweek and the CBS broadcast 60 minutes, suggest that antidepressant drugs, such as the SSRIs, do not exert any actual antidepressant effect.
Virtua and GE Healthcare announced today that they are collaborating to implement new solutions to help increase efficiencies, lower healthcare costs and improve patient care throughout the health system. Virtua is adopting GE's AgileTracTM Asset Manager and Enterprise Capacity Management Solution, an automated workflow solution that allows healthcare staff to better track a patient's inpatient experience, as well as manage the hospital's assets, ultimately reducing costs and increasing patient satisfaction.
