Study reveals new genetic factors linked to age-related macular degeneration

An international study of about 43,000 people has significantly expanded the number of genetic factors known to play a role in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss among people age 50 and older.

Cymbalta helped patients with depression feel better

Patients treated successfully with 60 mg per day of the investigational antidepressant Cymbalta® (duloxetine hydrochloride), were less likely to have their emotional and physical symptoms of depression return than those who stopped taking medication after beginning to feel better

Diets high in the nutrient choline may increase risk for colorectal polyps

Contrary to expectations, diets high in the nutrient choline were associated with an increased risk of some colorectal polyps, which can, but do not always, lead to colorectal cancer, according to a study published online in the August 7 Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
