A new study showed that women experience more intense pain than men. The study published in the Jan. 23 issue of the Journal of Pain, further suggests that greater effort is needed to recruit women into studies in order to determine the reasons for this gender difference. The Stanford University School of Medicine investigators examined pain scores from tens of thousands of patients in the United States.
The use of antimicrobial impregnated scrubs combined with good hand hygiene is effective in reducing the burden of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) on healthcare workers' apparel and may potentially play a role in decreasing the risk of MRSA transmission to patients, according to a new study from Virginia Commonwealth University researchers.
Researchers from Sanford Health and Chronix Biomedical today announced that results from a pilot study demonstrating the utility of a new cancer panel to detect previously undetected viral and cancer mutations are to be reported in a poster presentation titled "Detection of novel HPV mutations and chromosomal number imbalance (CNI) in oropharyngeal and laryngeal cancer using next-generation sequencing (NGS)" (Abstract #6072) at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting (ASCO 2014) being held from May 30 through June 3, 2014 in Chicago.
The World Health Organization today, together with the European Respiratory Society, presented a new framework to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in countries with low levels of the disease. Today there are 33 countries and territories where there are fewer than 100 TB cases per million population.
The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid's School of Computing has developed a computer system that can robustly and efficiently control and forecast air pollution.
