An Indiana University biologist has been awarded over $2.3 million from the National Institutes of Health to genetically modify variants of the human pathogen chlamydia in hopes of finding a vaccine for the most commonly reported bacterial infectious disease in the United States.
LodgeNet Healthcare, a division of LodgeNet Interactive Corporation, today announced they have deployed the first all digital, high definition healthcare solution at three facilities within NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore), headquartered in Evanston, Illinois.
Faculty at Louisiana Tech University have discovered, for the first time, a new nanocomposite formed by the self-assembly of copper and a biological component that occurs under physiological conditions, which are similar those found in the human body and could be used in targeted drug delivery for fighting diseases such as cancer.
In patients with advanced ovarian cancer, a combination of drugs known as immune checkpoint inhibitors and PARP inhibitors can produce powerful remissions, clinical trials have shown, but up until now investigators haven't been able to predict which patients won't benefit from the treatment and should explore other options.
