A woman suffers a heart attack every minute in the United States. But according to a 2009 American Heart Association survey, only half of women said they would call 9-1-1 if they thought they were having a heart attack - and many women did not even recognize several key symptoms. This combination has led to dangerous consequences.
At the International Small-Angle Scattering Conference, Bruker today announced the launch of the N8 HORIZON Small- and Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS and WAXS) system for materials research applications.
"Practice makes perfect" seems logical, but how much practice remains uncertain, and current health care quality guidelines may be set too high. It may be time to reexamine the standard recommending hospitals perform at least 400 angioplasty and stent procedures per year, according to a new study in the May 19, 2004 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Originally hosted in Europe on even calendar years, the COPD Conference series for researchers and healthcare professionals is coming to the U.S. for the first time.
