Scientists have found a way to distinguish between two progressive neurodegenerative diseases, Parkinson's disease and multiple system atrophy, using a technology developed by a researcher at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

A study based on medical records from more than a quarter million adult patients found that African-American patients with connective tissue diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis were twice as likely as white patients to suffer from narrowed or atherosclerotic blood vessels, which increase the risk of a heart attack, stroke or death.
In recent years, numerous studies have shown that people who don't get enough sleep are at greater risk of stroke and heart attack.
