Exactly when and where individual neurons develop is as important to our understanding of brain diseases as the underlying genetics, experts have shown.
Within all our cells lies two meters of DNA, highly ordered in a structure of less than 10 micro meters in diameter. Special proteins called histones act as small building bricks, organising our DNA in this structure. Preservation of the structure is necessary to maintain correct function of our genes, making histones detrimental for maintaining a healthy and functional body.
The United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) will convene a meeting of its member organizations on April 21 in Washington, D.C. Member delegates and experts from around the world will gather to discuss pressing global and domestic public health issues.
Scientists at Trinity College Dublin have uncovered a marvel molecule that blocks a key driver of inflammatory diseases. The finding could meet a major unmet clinical need by inspiring new non-invasive treatments for arthritis, multiple sclerosis and Muckle-Wells syndrome, among a myriad of other inflammatory diseases.
