Dr. Amanda Paulovich, whose lab has a leading role in the Beau Biden Cancer Moonshot, will speak April 5 at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting about her lab's pioneering methods to measure proteins that serve as tumor markers.
Led by Dr Ben Lehner, group leader at the EMBL-CRG Systems Biology Unit and ICREA and AXA Professor, together with Dr Tanya Vavouri from the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute and the Institute for Health Science Research Germans Trias i Pujol, the researchers noticed that the impact of environmental change can be passed on in the genes for many generations while studying C. elegans worms carrying a transgene array - a long string of repeated copies of a gene for a fluorescent protein that had been added into the worm genome using genetic engineering techniques.
PolyMedix, Inc., an emerging biotechnology company developing new therapeutic drug products to treat infectious diseases and acute cardiovascular disorders based on biomimetics, has received patent protection for certain exclusively licensed intellectual property by the issuance to the University of Pennsylvania of U.S. patent number 7,590,517, "Methods, Systems, and Computer Program Products for Computational Design of Amphiphilic Polymers."
The amount of violence depicted in children's nursery rhymes is 10 times greater than what is broadcast on British television before 9pm, suggests a study in the Archives of Disease in Childhood.
