IMRT safe and effective treatment for paranasal tumors: Study

Treating paranasal sinus cancer with three-dimensional radiation that conforms to the shape of the tumor-a technique that minimizes side effects such as severe dry mouth and vision problems-is safe and effective, research at Fox Chase Cancer Center shows. Aruna Turaka, M.D., radiation oncologist at Fox Chase, will present the results on November 2nd at the annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology.

Study highlights existence of barriers to early clinical trial access for adolescents and young adults

Young cancer patients at the crossroads of childhood and adulthood seem to be stuck in a treatment impasse. A study to be presented at the ESMO 2018 Congress in Munich, has highlighted the existence of barriers to the inclusion of 12 to 25-year-olds in both adult and pediatric early phase clinical trials, suggesting a need for more tailored approaches to give this patient population better access to therapeutic innovation.

Prior contralateral amputation predicts outcomes after LEB for critical limb ischemia

Researchers from the Vascular Study Group of New England (VSGNE) report that prior contralateral amputation predicts worse outcomes for lower extremity bypasses (LEB's) performed in the intact limb.

The research, conducted by The Australian Centre for Complementary Medicine Education and Research (ACCMER), shows that Biolane Green Lipped Mussel Extract has a combination of actions that are not associated with increased risk of blood clotting that has caused recent drug withdrawals and medical warnings.
