Multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to Maradol Papaya: CDC reports

A total of 47 people have been infected with Salmonella Kiambu infections from 12 different states as of 21st July 2017, reports the CDC. Of these, 12 have had to be hospitalized and one person from New York City succumbed to the infection. Maradol papayas have been found to be the likely source of this infection and the CDC has recommended people not to consume these until its clear.

FDA issues warning letter to Zhejiang Huahai Pharmaceutical involved in valsartan recall

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today released a warning letter issued to Zhejiang Huahai Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (ZHP), in Linhai, Taizhou Zhejiang China, the manufacturer of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) found in valsartan that is the subject of an ongoing FDA investigation into probable cancer-causing impurities in certain commonly prescribed heart medicines.
