New study maps the evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 delta and delta plus variants

The SARS-CoV-2 delta variant bears the D164G mutation, which is known to enhance viral fitness. However, a number of additional mutations are known to be common to the delta and delta plus lineages, at least 25 as identified in a study recently published in the Journal of Autoimmunity, mainly located on the spike protein of the virus.

Bio-Path awarded $244,479 federal grant for Liposomal Grb-2 Phase I clinical trial

Bio-Path Holdings, Inc., a biotechnology company developing a liposomal delivery technology for nucleic acid cancer drugs, today announced that it has received a grant of $244,479 from the United States Government to help fund the Company's Phase I clinical trial of its lead cancer drug candidate Liposomal Grb-2. The amount of funds awarded was the maximum allocation allowed under the program.

Drug combination may prevent secondary stroke in certain patients, study shows

Results from an international clinical trial of more than 4880 participants, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, show that combining clopidogrel and aspirin following a small stroke or experiencing minor stroke symptoms decreases risk of a new stroke, heart attack or other ischemic event within 90 days.

Agreement on voluntary land guidelines shows collaboration on food security is possible
