Addition of ficlatuzumab to gefitinib may be effective in select subsets of patients with NSCLC

AVEO Oncology today announced that detailed results from an exploratory, randomized Phase 2 study evaluating the combination of ficlatuzumab, the company's HGF inhibitory antibody, and gefitinib compared to gefitinib monotherapy in previously untreated Asian subjects with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were presented at the 2012 Congress of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).

A new study attempted to assess whether having a dog in the bedroom or sharing a bed with a dog helps or disturbs sleep. For this Mayo Clinic study, the team of researchers looked at several healthy individuals between August 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015 and evaluated their sleep quality. The study entitled "The Effect of Dogs on Human Sleep in the Home Sleep Environment," was published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings.

Study may help in defining better therapeutic strategies for oral and throat cancer

Mayo Clinic researchers along with collaborators from Life Technologies are reporting on the application of a new approach for sequencing RNA to study cancer tumors. Their findings from a proof-of-principle study on oral carcinomas appear in the current issue of PLoS One, the online science journal.
