Michael J. Fox Foundation awards Impax $400,000 grant for research of IPX066 for Parkinson's disease

Impax Pharmaceuticals, the branded products division of Impax Laboratories, Inc., has been awarded funding of up to $400,000 by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for ongoing clinical research of the Company's investigational carbidopa-levodopa extended release (CD-LD ER) product IPX066, which is intended to treat the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD).

Researchers reveal how genome-editing tool works as 'guided missile' to correct errors in genetic code

Researchers from the Broad Institute and MIT have teamed up with colleagues from the University of Tokyo to form the first high definition picture of the Cas9 complex - a key part of the CRISPR-Cas system used by scientists as a genome-editing tool to silence genes and probe the biology of cells. Their findings, which are reported this week in Cell, are expected to help researchers refine and further engineer the tool to accelerate genomic research and bring the technology closer to use in the treatment of human genetic disease.

MP receives FDA IND approval for clinical trial with HTLV-I/II ELISA 4.0 and HTLV Blot.2.4

MP Biomedicals LLC announced today that it has received approval of its investigational new drug application (IND) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to start pivotal clinical trials in the USA with the MP Diagnostics™ HTLV-I/II ELISA 4.0 and HTLV Blot.2.4. Studies will be conducted within the American Red Cross, the California Department of Public Health, and LABS, Inc. The company is working closely with the principal investigator of the American Red Cross sites, Dr. Susan Stramer, Executive Scientific Officer.

The new material allows fitting the shoe to the foot shape, after obtaining anthropometric measurements through the Shopintantshoe portable scanner and modifying it with the "Shoptool", a machine that completes the process directly in the shop.
