QRxPharma receives date for US pain drug launch, pending approval

Australian pain-relief drug developer QRxPharma (QRX) has announced today that they have received from the US Food & Drug Adminstration.

Pharmatek adds roller compaction to GMP manufacturing facilities

Pharmatek Laboratories, Inc., a premier contract development and manufacturing organization supporting the pharmaceutical industry, announced that it has added roller compaction to its solid oral dosage form manufacturing capabilities. The company has purchased two roller compactors, a pilot-scale Vector TFC-220 roller compactor with a rate of 20 kg/hour, and a Vector TFC-LAB Micro lab-scale roller compactor with a rate of 1 kg/hour. Both machines have been integrated into Pharmatek's GMP facility and are ready for GMP manufacturing.

TripleTree and WLSA extend I Award nomination deadline

New UMD study explores why African American and Hispanic women have high rates of unintended pregnancy

A new study from the University of Maryland School of Public Health examined why African American and Hispanic women have higher rates of unintended pregnancy than White women. Researchers found that there were unique factors explaining the differences in unintended pregnancy between African Americans and Whites (respondent's mother's age at first birth, income, and health insurance status) and the differences between Hispanics and Whites (U.S. born status and educational level).

Nanoparticles may provide safe pain control on the battlefield

University of Michigan scientists have received a pilot grant of nearly $1.3 million from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to test whether nanoparticles can solve a pressing problem in battle zones like Iraq: how to administer sustained, safe doses of the most effective painkillers to injured soldiers, long before they can reach expert medical help.
