Haoquan Wu, Ph.D., associate professor in the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, has received a two-year, $420,000 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease to study the mosquito-borne virus Zika.
In a phase IIb study in 589 patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed hyperlipidemia treated with anacetrapib as monotherapy or co-administered with atorvastatin, there were persistent lipid effects in the higher dose arms in both the monotherapy and co-administration treatment groups eight weeks after stopping active therapy with anacetrapib.

Individuals with a high resting heart rate and a low beat-to-beat heart rate variability have an increased risk of developing kidney disease, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society Nephrology.
