BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has voluntarily executed a product recall of certain lots of BD Q-Syte™ Luer Access Devices and BD Nexiva™ Closed IV Catheter Systems. Use of the affected devices may cause an air embolism or leakage of blood and/or therapy, which may result in serious injury or death. This field corrective action included notification to customers worldwide by letter. Neither the costs anticipated with the recall, nor the impact on BD's business, are expected to be material.
Cynosure, Inc., a leader in laser- and light-based aesthetic treatments for non-invasive and minimally invasive applications, today announced that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance to market its flagship PicoSure Picosecond Laser Workstation for the treatment of wrinkles with the Company's new disposable energy delivery system, the FOCUS lens array.
Local, state and national leaders gave the new Scottsdale Healthcare Military Training Center a "thumbs up" during grand opening dedication ceremonies held Jan. 19.
Opening Minds, the largest systematic effort in Canadian history to reduce the stigma of mental illness, was launched today by the Honourable Michael Kirby, Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. "More than seven million Canadians will experience a mental health problem in 2009. Many of these people will not seek help because of the stigma surrounding mental illness. In fact, people who live with mental illness tell us that the stigma is often worse than the disease itself", says Kirby.
T cells from patients with melanoma can trigger a protective immune response against the disease according to a new study out of University Hospitals Case Medical Center Seidman Cancer Center and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
