These proceedings cover the nervous regulation of both white and brown adipose tissue mass. Different physiological parameters such as metabolism (lipolysis and thermogenesis) and secretory activity (leptin and other adipokines) are reviewed. The plasticity of adipose tissue (proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis) showing the presence of a neural feedback loop between adipose tissue and the brain, which plays a major role in the regulation of energy homeostasis, is discussed.

Alliance HealthCare commences $190 million registered exchange offer

Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc. announced today that it has commenced a registered exchange offer to exchange up to $190 million aggregate principal amount of its 8.00% series B senior notes due 2016 which have been registered under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, for any and all of its outstanding 8.00% senior notes due 2016 which were issued in a private placement.

Global Fund Observer reports on new funding model progress

Aidspan, an independent watchdog of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, on Tuesday published Issue 208 of its "Global Fund Observer." Among others, the issue contains two stories on the new funding model (NFM), which, according to the first article, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria expects to launch by the end of February.
