Regulus Therapeutics' metabolic disease program data presented at Diabetes Keystone Symposium

Regulus Therapeutics Inc. today announced that new data from its metabolic disease program were presented at the "Diabetes" Keystone Symposium held April 12-17 in Whistler, British Columbia. The new pre-clinical research findings showed that therapeutic oligonucleotides targeting microRNA are able to improve insulin resistance and normalize plasma glucose in mouse models of diabetes while having no significant effect on glucose or insulin levels in normal mice.

Taking ticagrelor alone better for patients with complex heart disease

Patients with complex heart disease who stopped taking aspirin three months after the insertion of one or more coronary stents and then took the anti-platelet medication ticagrelor alone for a year had fewer episodes of bleeding and no increase in heart attacks, stroke or other adverse events caused by blockages in the arteries, compared with patients who took both aspirin and ticagrelor over the same period.

Media representatives are invited to join us for the closing ceremony of heart transplant recipient Sylvain Bédard's bicycle tour, to take place at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI). Dr. Michel Pellerin, the cardiac surgeon who performed the operation, will present him with an official MHI shirt as well as a bouquet of flowers to mark his accomplishment: a tour across Canada, 700 kilometres of which were done on bicycle.
