Nursing students: UK hospitals not physically suited to caring for dementia patients

Nursing students who had placements in UK hospitals observed that ward environments were not physically suited to caring for dementia patients and qualified nurses often felt out of their depth when trying to treat such patients. Nurses sometimes 'saw the disease, not the patient', students reported. As a result patients were not always treated with dignity and there were challenges to basic care such as nutrition.

It's on Saturday that the Journal of the American Heart Association published the conclusive results from a study directed by Dr. Éric Thorin of the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI), which suggests for the first time that a blood protein contributes to the early development of atherosclerosis.

Bruker has received an order for the first ultra-high field MRI CryoProbe in North America to be installed at the F.M. Kirby Research Center for Functional Brain Imaging at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD.
