A new study presented at this year's annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), held online this year, shows that rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with a 23% increased risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D), and may indicate that both diseases are linked to the body's inflammatory response.
The Renfrew Center, the country's leading authority on eating disorder treatment and research, recently announced the expansion of its services into Central America through a partnership with the Guatemala-based AKASA treatment center. The first center in Central America exclusively dedicated to the treatment of women with eating disorders, AKASA now operates as an independent affiliate of The Renfrew Center.
The senior Congressional Budget Office analyst whose job is calculating the costs of overhaul the health system - an overworked, "amiable father of three" named Phil Ellis - "is the first to admit that his painstaking numbers are almost certainly wrong," the Washington Post reports. His estimates "essentially condemned two" bills by pricing them at over a trillion, while boosting another by estimating much lower costs, illustrating the huge political stakes generated by Ellis' guesswork.
