Ranbaxy and Teva announce generic Lipitor agreement

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced today that pursuant to an agreement between its subsidiary, Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. and Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, a portion of the profits from Ranbaxy's sales of Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets during Ranbaxy's 180-day first-to-file exclusivity period, will be paid to Teva.

De novo somatic gene mutations likely to cause hemimegalencephaly

Hemimegalencephaly is a rare but dramatic condition in which the brain grows asymmetrically, with one hemisphere becoming massively enlarged. Though frequently diagnosed in children with severe epilepsy, the cause of hemimegalencephaly is unknown and current treatment is radical: surgical removal of some or all of the diseased half of the brain.
