New neurological deficit behind amblyopia

Researchers at New York University's Center for Neural Science have identified a new neurological deficit behind amblyopia, or "lazy eye." Their findings, which appear in the most recent issue of the Journal of Neuroscience, shed additional light on how amblyopia results from disrupted links between the brain and normal visual processing.

Urocortin 2 improves cardiac output in Phase II study for acute decompensated heart failure

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. today announced efficacy and safety results from a Phase II trial of urocortin 2 in 53 patients with acute decompensated heart failure. The UNICORN study was conducted over approximately a two year period by the Cardioendocrine Research Group from the University of Otago in Christchurch, New Zealand and included patients admitted to Christchurch Hospital with acute decompensated heart failure.

U-M saves more than $22M during Medicare Physician Group Practice Demonstration Project

Medicare patients received better care at the University of Michigan Health System, and U-M staff have saved more than $22 million on the cost of that care during a five-year demonstration project.
