InSightec completes enrollment in ExAblate Neuro clinical study for Essential Tremor

InSightec Ltd, the global leader in MR guided Focused Ultrasound therapy, announced today that it has completed enrollment in the world's first feasibility study evaluating the use of MRgFUS for treatment of Essential Tremor, using ExAblate Neuro at University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.

FDA approves Lannett's ANDA for Ondansetron Injection USP, 2 mg/mL, Multi-Dose Vials

Lannett Company, Inc. today announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Ondansetron Injection USP, 2 mg/mL, Multi-Dose Vials. Ondansetron Injection USP, 2 mg/mL is the generic equivalent of GlaxoSmithKline's Zofran® Injection, 2 mg/mL. For the 12 months ending December 2009 U.S. sales of Ondansetron Injection USP, 2 mg/mL were approximately $58 million at Average Wholesale Price (AWP). A launch date for the product has not yet been set.

Bortezomib reduces inflammation and promotes bone healing in arthritis models

A new study by Greek researchers suggests that the biologic drug bortezomib (Velcade), a proteasome inhibitor used to treat multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer), may represent a promising treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In this study, bortezomib displayed favorable effects in an animal model of inflammatory arthritis that mimics RA, in reducing disease severity and inflammation, and promoting bone healing. Full findings of this study are published in the November issue of Arthritis & Rheumatism, a journal of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).
