When compared with published data from previous surveys, the new data show an increase in the percentage of children who receive treatment when that disease does occur.

Routine screening of blood samples would reduce the risk of disease transmission among transplant recipients

Results of a study in this week's issue of THE LANCET suggest that routine screening of blood samples to detect viral RNA among organ and tissue donors who do not have obvious signs of clinical disease would reduce the risk of disease transmission among transplant recipients.

Genzyme board of directors vote to reject tender offer from Sanofi-Aventis

Genzyme Corp. announced today that its board of directors has voted unanimously to reject the unsolicited $69.00 per share tender offer from Sanofi-Aventis, and the board recommends that Genzyme shareholders not tender their shares to Sanofi-Aventis pursuant to the offer.
