Researchers at the University of Helsinki, in cooperation with two research groups in the United States, have discovered that some Finnish mothers carry rare gene variants that protect them from pre-eclampsia, also known as toxaemia of pregnancy.
A new report on trends in women's health in the United States reveals the national C-section rate has held steady at 33 percent since 2009, leveling off after eight years of steady increase that was in part driven by scheduled, elective surgeries and a trend for increasing the repeat C-section.
Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC today announces it has signed a definitive merger agreement with Schiff Nutrition International, Inc. a leading provider of branded vitamins, nutrition supplements and nutrition bars in the United States and elsewhere. The Board of Directors of Schiff has approved the transaction and will recommend that its stockholders tender their shares into Reckitt Benckiser's previously announced cash tender offer of $42.00 per share, valuing Schiff at $1.4 billion.
