Patients often do not take the medicines their doctors prescribe, and a new review of existing research suggests that there is no proven way to get them to follow directions for long periods.
"More than a dozen kindergartens in Vietnam have closed to deal with an outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease that has killed 111 children and sickened more than 57,000 this year, an official and the government said," according to the Associated Press/Washington Post.
AMDL, Inc., developer and marketer of tests for the early detection of cancer and other serious diseases, announced today that it has filed with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for clearance to market its unique, proprietary DR-70 (FDP) ELISA tumor marker test for use as an aid in monitoring patients previously diagnosed with colorectal cancer. AMDL used the guidance provided at the meeting they had with the FDA on January 25, 2007.
Scientists have reported in the journal Genome Research that they have successfully cloned and characterized a previously intractable DNA sequence: a 554-kilobase-pair genomic segment near the centromere of the human Y chromosome. This sequence contains eight putatively active genes that could be implicated in sex-associated height differences and gonadal tumor development.
A lawsuit that commenced on October 2, 2006 alleged that 24 Hour Fitness, the nation's largest privately owned fitness center chain, violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act ("RICO"), the Electronic Fund Transfer Act ("EFTA"), and engaged in unfair and fraudulent business practices, as well as other violations of California's consumer protection statutes in charging monthly membership dues by unauthorized electronic funds transfer ("EFT") after members provided notice of cancellation of their memberships.
