A new drug that targets proteins responsible for helping cancer cells to repair damage to their DNA has shown promising anti-tumour activity in its first trial in humans.
Critical Path Institute (C-Path) announced today that its Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Consortium has received a positive response to its Letter of Intent (LOI) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detailing the FDA's decision to accept the consortium's Biomarker Initiative project into the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) Biomarker Qualification Program (BQP).
Researchers from Bar-Ilan University have found that with pregnancy there is a change in the composition of gut bacteria in women. This could be associated with the changing hormonal status they speculate. The results of their study titled, "Progesterone Increases Bifidobacterium Relative Abundance during Late Pregnancy," were published in the latest issue of the journal Cell Reports.
Sifting through the pages of newspapers, most people reading stories about autism would think scientists are primarily grappling with understanding how environmental factors, such as childhood vaccines, might contribute to the condition.
