The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine is pleased to announce the launch of its new patient-focused website, SportsMedToday.com. The site provides an easy-to-navigate, patient-centered resource center for parents, medical professionals and youth organizations interested in prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries.
New research from the University of Minnesota Medical School found mutations in a novel gene that may help identify patients with a specific form of muscular dystrophy.
Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the Finance Committee expects the Senate's health care overhaul proposal to include a public health insurance plan, Dow Jones Newswire reports, adding that Baucus was "following the lead of President Obama and drawing a line in the sand on the controversial issue." The President strongly supported the public option in a letter to senators Wednesday.
Glioblastoma is an aggressive, killer disease. While victims of this fast-moving brain tumor comprise only about 15% of all people with brain cancer, its victims rarely survive more than a few years after diagnosis.
