People who drink coffee are less likely to develop an involuntary eye spasm called primary late onset blepharospasm, which makes them blink uncontrollably and can leave them effectively ‘blind', according to a study published online ahead of print in the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry .
The University of Massachusetts Medical School, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Massachusetts Connector Authority have received a $35.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop an online "health care exchange," a resource through which consumers and small business owners can efficiently shop for health insurance plans.
A retrospective analysis of methotrexate (MTX) safety data found that injection of this disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) was not superior to oral therapy in long-term treatment of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Findings published in Arthritis Care & Research, a peer-reviewed journal of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), suggest that with similar efficacy and tolerability the more comfortable oral approach may be more suitable to treat pediatric arthritis patients.
The introduction of a national eHealth record systems appears to be progressing with delegates at the Australian Health Ministers' Conference agreeing to establishing a secure national system.
