Boston Scientific Corporation today welcomed one-year data from the SPIRIT IV clinical trial comparing the XIENCE V((R)) (PROMUS((R))) Everolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent System to the TAXUS((R)) Express2(TM) Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent System. The results support the benefits of paclitaxel-eluting stents in diabetic patients. The trial enrolled 3,690 patients, including 1,140 diabetics, the largest diabetic subset ever studied in a drug-eluting stent clinical trial.
Research has shown that people who sleep for more than eight hours each night are at a greater risk of mortality and cardiovascular disease than people who sleep for seven hours or less.
According to an article in the August 2004 issue Microbiology Today, the quarterly magazine of the Society for General Microbiology, the majority of people with E. coli O157:H7, picked up the infection from cattle, either through direct contact with faeces or by consuming contaminated meat or milk.
Schools are taking a proactive approach to get students to move more and improve their eating habits. But it takes a team effort at both school and home to make a difference, said Greg Welk, a professor of kinesiology at Iowa State University.
