As political and health care leaders from across Canada celebrate and recognize the value of Physician Assistants (PAs) on National PA Day, the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA), released a National Report Card highlighting the progress in some provinces vs. others in integrating PAs into the health care system.
Since its inception in July 2009, the Committee on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing, at the Institute of Medicine has worked to develop a blueprint for using nurse-led models of innovation to improve the health care system.
A new study by motor control and psychology researchers at Indiana University suggests that postural control problems may be a core feature of bipolar disorder, not just a random symptom, and can provide insights both into areas of the brain affected by the psychiatric disorder and new potential targets for treatment.
Adolescents and young adults are most likely to abuse prescription medications. Yet prescription rates for controlled medications, or drugs the Drug Enforcement Administration deems as having the potential for abuse, have nearly doubled for those age groups in the past 14 years, according to a recent study published in Pediatrics. Overall, a controlled medication was prescribed for young adults at approximately one out of every six visits and for young adult by adolescents one out of every nine encounters.
ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd., announced that Surasak Phuphanich, MD, Principal Investigator of the Phase I clinical trial of ImmunoCellular's lead dendritic cell cancer vaccine candidate for glioblastoma multiforme presented safety and preliminary efficacy data yesterday at the American Academy of Neurology 63rd Annual Meeting.
