Peer pressure, targeted marketing campaigns and bad parenting have all been blamed for increasing materialism in children.
SensAble Technologies, Inc®, a leading provider of 3D touch-enabled modeling solutions, dental CAD/CAM solutions and haptic devices, has announced partnerships with key dental industry players that will offer fabrication services for milled crowns and bridges, in a variety of materials including zirconia, to SensAble Dental Lab System owners. Partners include Remedent Inc., of Ghent, Belgium, an international leader in oral care and cosmetic dentistry products; and Precise Structures Milling Center of Laguna Hills CA, which operates milling centers in Laguna Hills and Oshawa, Ontario.
A new curriculum called The Great Diseases will bring real-world biomedical research to students in three Boston high schools. The result of a collaboration between scientists from Tufts University School of Medicine and teachers from the Boston Public Schools, the curriculum presents current threats to global health through laboratory learning, multimedia, and case-based studies
Researchers at Lawson Health Research Institute have discovered that developing countries have faster growing rates of use of home-based dialysis (called peritoneal dialysis) for kidney failure than the developed world. Despite home-based dialysis' reduced cost and better outcomes, developed countries (including Canada) are using this form of therapy less.
Experts from the University of Alicante have found that prolonged exposure to the sun increases the chance of developing alterations in the lens by 4%. Choosing the right pair of sunglasses can reduce such complications.
