To address the lack of access to tests and testing services in multiple countries, WHO since 2018 has published a yearly essential diagnostics list (EDL), a basket of recommended in vitro diagnostics that should be available at point-of-care and in laboratories in all countries to increase timely and life-saving diagnoses.

According to researchers, a noticeable drop in the number of people travelling by air following the September 11 attacks, had an effect on the start and spread of the 2001-2002 U.S. flu season.
A University of Manchester-led study is testing whether an intervention with parents and teachers can help children with autism transfer newly acquired social communication skills from home into school.
Research from the University of Limerick has unlocked a major scientific challenge which has exciting potential for point of care medical tests.
