A study led by SUNY Downstate Medical Center's School of Public Health presents evidence linking personal care products used during pregnancy to adverse reproductive effects in newborns.
The 2011 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons—one of the largest international meetings of surgeons in the world—will convene October 23-27, 2011, in San Francisco, CA. The San Francisco Hilton will serve as the headquarters hotel for the meeting, and the Moscone Convention Center will house the scientific panel sessions and courses, as well as all scientific and technical exhibits.
Since 1992 the number of deaths linked to breast cancer in Spain has decreased among young and middle aged patients but not among the elderly. Spanish researchers also predict that it will continue to decline over the next decade, although more slowly as observed up until now.
With mounting concerns over childhood obesity and its associated health risks in the U.S., would a ban on junk-food advertising aimed at children be more effective than the current voluntary, industry-led ban? According to published research from a University of Illinois economist, advertising bans do work, but an outright ban covering the entire U.S. media market would be the most effective policy tool for reducing fast-food consumption in children.
