SPO Medical Inc., a leading developer of biosensor and microprocessor technologies for use in portable monitoring devices, today announced it has been granted a new and innovative baby monitoring patent relating to a non-invasive device or system for monitoring and measuring the heart rate of a baby to activate an alarm when the level falls outside a predetermined range.
Using an innovative exome sequencing strategy, a team of international scientists led by John Landers, PhD, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School has shown that TUBA4A, the gene encoding the Tubulin Alpha 4A protein, is associated with familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurological disorder also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
On the eve of Children's Mental Health Week (May 2-8, 2010), Kinark Child Family and Services, a non-profit children's mental health organization in Ontario, will host the 19th annual Krista Sepp Memorial Award celebration luncheon at the Richmond Hill Country Club.
If recently injured patients with serious bleeding were to receive a cheap, widely available and easily administered drug to help their blood to clot, tens of thousands of lives could be saved every year, according to a paper published on-line today by The Lancet.
As the unemployment numbers heat up, so does the competition for available jobs.
