Micromet, Inc. today announced the presentation of updated results from a Phase 1 trial of the Company's lead product candidate blinatumomab (MT103) in patients with relapsed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. A high objective response rate was maintained among patients treated with blinatumomab using an adapted schedule, comparable to that previously reported in patients receiving constant dosing.
Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis today will announce, from Anaheim, Calif., a national outreach initiative by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration to educate workers and their employers about the hazards of working outdoors in the heat and steps needed to prevent heat-related illnesses.
At the urging of the Alzheimer's Association and its more than 600,000 advocates, the funding bill signed into law today by President Obama contained an unprecedented $122 million increase for Alzheimer's research, education, outreach and caregiver support. The Alzheimer's Association applauds the Obama administration for calling for increased Alzheimer's funding in the President's Fiscal Year 2014 budget and Congress for providing funding to enable the continued, effective implementation of the National Plan to Address Alzheimer's Disease.
Investigators at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Regenerative Medicine and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) have found that Sox2 - one of the transcription factors used in the conversion of adult stem cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) - is expressed in many adult tissues where it had not been previously observed.
When the human papillomavirus (HPV) is found in cancer tumours of the tonsil and base of the tongue, patients are more likely to survive following treatment.
