A cholesterol-lowering drug reduced the enlarged prostates of hamsters to the same extent as a drug commonly used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), report researchers at Children's Hospital Boston and their colleagues in the October issue of the Journal of Urology. Together, the drugs worked even better.
The LAP-BAND- weight loss procedure is safe and effective in an expanded group of patients, not just in people who are morbidly obese. This conclusion is reported in a new study published in the scientific journal Obesity. The findings indicate that the procedure may help to intervene before obesity becomes life threatening to patients.
As part of a national initiative to solve children's diseases, the Translational Genomics Research Institute and the Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium are participating in the launch of the Kids First Data Resource Portal, which is supported by the National Institutes of Health .
InspireMD, developer of the novel MGuard(TM), a combination of a coronary stent merged with an embolic protection specifically designed for Acute MI (AMI) patients, received significant exposure at the ICI, Innovations in Interventional Cardiology, meeting this week in Tel-Aviv.
