Published in the March/April issue of AJLM, the article, written by Peter M. Janiszewski, MSc, Travis J. Saunders BSc, and Robert Ross, PhD, at Queen's University, reviews existing evidence that exercise and caloric restriction can be a valid treatment strategy for metabolic syndrome.
In a new study published in the Jan. 25 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the researchers demonstrated that the technique works by incorporating it into a specially designed virus. The virus eradicated prostate cancer cells in the lab and in animals while leaving normal cells unscathed.
A less invasive test commonly used to diagnose coronary disease also may be used to detect one of the leading causes of heart failure, say researchers at the Medical College of Georgia.
Pfizer Canada Inc., the distributor of EpiPen, and the Montreal Bell Centre are pleased to announce that EpiPen (epinephrine) emergency kits are now available at the Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. The new partnership strives to offer a safeguarded environment for visitors at risk of serious allergic reactions during hockey games, concerts and other entertainment events.
