Latinos have higher rates of developing visual impairment, blindness, diabetic eye disease, and cataracts than non-Hispanic whites, researchers found. These are the first estimates of visual impairment and eye disease development in Latinos, the largest and fastest growing minority population in the United States.
Grandmothers who are caregivers to grandchildren are more prone to stress and depressive symptoms than non-caregivers according to the latest research by Case Western Reserve University's Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.
"China's decision to categorically remove HIV/AIDS from the list of conditions subject to entry restrictions is a significant step in the right direction," said Dr Margaret Chan, WHO Director-General. "This decision should inspire other nations to change laws and policies that continue to discriminate against people living with HIV."
Pennsylvania's hospitals got a small piece of good news when an overdue budget came with smaller than expected cuts. But there and in other states, programs continue to find programs and budgets on the chopping block.
Measuring the transfer of tiny amounts of energy from one protein to another on breast cancer cells has given scientists a detailed view of molecular interactions that could help predict how breast cancer patients will respond to particular therapies.
