The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics applauds the Food and Drug Administration's efforts, announced November 7, to reduce partially hydrogenated oils in processed foods.
Using advanced mass spectrometry technology, scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have developed a molecular model that may provide a new framework for improving the design of osteoporosis treatments.
A recent study, published in the January issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, demonstrates that in elderly patients undergoing hip fracture repair under spinal anesthesia with propofol sedation, the prevalence of delirium can be decreased by 50 percent with light sedation, compared to deep sedation.
The Michael Cuccione Foundation is donating $5 million to support the childhood cancer research program at the Child & Family Research Institute at BC Children's Hospital, now named the Michael Cuccione Foundation Childhood Cancer Research Program. The gift, the largest ever to cancer research at BC Children's, was announced during an event at the research institute, where the program is based.
