Tristan Gibeau 25, a graduate computer engineering student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and his team developed an ‘app', LifeLens, to detect malaria.
A group of Salzburg-based researchers led by the psychologist Eva Jonas investigates the neuro-psychological mechanisms behind existential threats. What exactly happens in the process between threat and defensive reaction is at the center of an ongoing study funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF.
After studying the sleep characteristics of nearly 11,000 adults in an overnight sleep laboratory, Mayo Clinic researchers suggest that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) - and, in particular, the low nighttime oxygen saturation of the blood it causes - may be a risk factor for sudden cardiac death (SCD).
A new report published by the government today (24 October), puts forward a number of recommendations aimed at speeding up the process by which the NHS implements newly developed drugs and medical procedures.
