A portable device attached to a smartphone can help capture precise images of the retina to diagnose eye disease. The new method by a startup company, Phelcom Technologies, is a lower cost tool that can help doctors diagnose remotely, through telemedicine.
NexMed, Inc., a developer of products based on the NexACT® technology, today announced that it has completed its post hoc analysis of NM100060, the Company's topically-applied treatment for onychomycosis, commonly known as nail fungus. Based on this analysis, NexMed seeks to pursue signing a partner for further development of the product.
Factors that influence the health of our blood vessels, such as smoking, high blood and pulse pressures, obesity and diabetes, are linked to less healthy brains, according to research published in the European Heart Journal today (Monday).
Scientists at Helmholtz Zentrum München have new information on what happens at the molecular level when we go hungry. Working with the Deutsches Zentrum für Diabetesforschung and the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum they were able to show that upon deprivation of food a certain protein is produced that adjusts the metabolism in the liver.
