Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been transplanted to successfully treat a variety of diseases and conditions. Ligand Pharmaceuticals Incorporated today announced that its licensee, Onyx Pharmaceuticals, received accelerated approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Kyprolis (carfilzomib) for Injection, a proteasome inhibitor indicated for the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least two prior therapies, including bortezomib and an immunomodulatory agent, and have demonstrated disease progression on or within 60 days of completion of the last therapy.
Biodel Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Complete Response Letter (CRL) requesting additional information regarding the company's new drug application (NDA) for Linjeta™ (human insulin [rDNA origin]) injection 100IU/mL for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control.
To orient ourselves, we mainly need two pieces of information: where am I and in which direction am I heading? Experiments in the rat have shown that these types of information are directly accessible and independently coded in the brain.
