The Obama administration announced $25 million in new grants for pilot programs to explore alternatives to the medical malpractice system.
The pretreatment central subfield thickness in the eyes of patients with diabetic macular edema is the strongest predictor of outcome after one year of treatment with ranibizumab, with a reduction linked to better visual acuity outcomes, report researchers.
The walls have been painted, the new floor tiles have been set and new science equipment has been installed in time for the dedication of the University of Florida Southwest Florida Research and Education Center's 7,000-square-foot expansion. The dedication ceremony is set for Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m.
Subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation has a beneficial effect on pain severity in patients with Parkinson's disease that persists for up to 8 years, say researchers, but new onset of musculoskeletal pain in many suggests its effects are not enduring.
