Indian Country Times reports on the Indian Health Service's role in national health care reform with IHS Director Dr. Yvette Roubideaux arguing that things are improving at IHS, but the agency must adapt to rapid changes in national health care reform and demonstrate willingness to improve.
Varian, Inc. announced today the availability of its next generation dissolution apparatus designed for testing tablets, capsules and other dosage forms. The 708-DS supports a broad set of applications ranging from manual dissolution testing to automated, high-throughput analysis. It provides extensive flexibility to match the needs of individual laboratories, whether in research or testing. Integration with either the new Varian UV or LC Dissolution Systems will save time and reduce the potential for sample handling errors.
The Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine has established the Distinguished Scientist Award to recognize biomedical scientists whose seminal research accomplishments have established them as leaders in biomedicine, and who have made significant contributions to SEBM. The following members of the Society have been named as the 2012 Distinguished Scientist Award recipients.
Often cancer research goes like this: study cancerous cells in a lab dish, find mutations that appear in many of the samples, develop drugs to target proteins made by the mutated genes, and voila, new chemotherapy drugs are born. Or at least that's the hope.
Scientists from Duke-NUS Medical School and the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) found that 2003 SARS survivors who have been vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA vaccine produced highly potent functional antibodies that are capable of neutralizing not only all known SARS-CoV-2 variants of concerns (VOCs) but also other animal coronaviruses that have the potential to cause human infection.
